Module 1.1- Turning point event for environmental science-Celebrating the comeback of the burning river

When watching the video about the Celebrating the comeback of the burning river the first thing that comes in mind was the people not picking their trash but to find out that it was worse a larger issue. In the video it starts how Wane Bratton who is the ss holiday captain explain about what happen in the river, he explains that this issued was build up for a long-time, it's come to the point where much wildlife was getting sick to then being killed. It has gotten to the point where the smell was also bothering the civilian on how it was getting hard for her to breath, so they started the process cleaning the mess. The purpose of this video is they had to clean the river and explain how they didn't expect it to be so bad and that it had to use up a lot of resource, the oil ended up catching fire. The sad part about how dirty the river was with the trash and the oil the working crew question on the idea of the river being clean because of how "dirty it was and that they didn't know rather to continue".

It was polluted for around 50 years, and because a "spark from a passing freight train ignited an oil slick" it was a huge awaking in the eye of the directory and the health department along with meet your manager and the watershed directory but I felt interesting about this is the fact that how bad the people made this solution in the late 60s early 70s commissions that was set up with Canada and the United States are usually distributing the border had to intervene and be involved with the water quality dispute because it was so bad. In my opinion I feel like they should have been more on the river not just because it brings over attraction but it's also becoming a health hazard instead it just posting to the point that it affects the wildlife. in video you clearly see how as they are scooping up the trash and the gunk around the boats and using the filters as sponges to pick up the oil, you could see the dead fishes and many of the marine wildlife getting affected by the situation.

Once they started actually getting involved in cleaning up the miss Jenn Greiser the nature manager mentions how her and her team was trying to solve the situation, they didn't realize how much they had to spend. It was dealing with the cleaning crew, the equipment, Plus the researchers they had too fine and sponsor to make a chemical that was easier to pick up the oil or machines that would help pick up the trash faster that was going to cost them around $5 million on the low end. Frank Greenland was actually an interesting one because he was the director of the water show and he mentions how" Industries can actually help Cleaning up the streams before discharging to the EPA"

Once the river was clean people started to interact around the river and also pitch in on helping it stay clean started with the restaurants they started to build their business because of the view which leads to more tourists and then they make sure the restaurants are clean and make sure they don't put the river, Then they started doing fun activities where they're doing competitions and justice fishing in the area now that they were able to Hot fish repopulating the river again. There are these events they become very cautious on the situation of the pollution, so the people running the event make sure that the areas clean once they're done and people started to pitch in on having a clean habit for the river.

Over the years they were keeping an eye on the pollution, of course it decreased but there was still contamination into it where people were still finding ways to eliminate the pollution, An article called Earth Day titled The Burning River it tells you about interesting facts and it mentioned that as of March 19 in the news report that fish was able to be consumed again. It took over 40 years to maintain the environment again.

What was interesting was the damned they built to make sure that the water was always running and that they could help gap the trash and help clean the water, as mentioned earlier events starting to open up which means they were able to profit more on people so they could have the proper finance to clean the river. I'm aware the oil was a major issue on the cause of the fire that the pollution also was caused by people themselves when they don't pick up the trash so I thought it would be interesting for them to have add like a fee and be more severely cameras to make sure that the pollution doesn't happen as much but that's just in a personal opinion.
