Activity 3.3.3.1 Current Events in Plastic Pollution

PLASTIC POLLUTION Introduction     I've recently read article on how one of the biggest pollutions is plastic, which was not a shock I was aware of it being a problem. However, while taking this class, I know how a realization on how much of an issue this is on our community and around the world, from my article that I've read it discusses on how health and the environment is at risk from all of the plastic waste and how if we continue It'll be a greater effect on us Information Microplastic is a major issue for a pollution, it part of the plastic waste that we don't throw away properly. Microplastics are the size of rice that has 2 main sources the primary and secondary Microplastic. Primary is used to produce in the materials we use for an example cosmetic, as Secondary is when it breaks down from the large plastic waste which things like fabric gets put in the environment causing the water source to be contaminated. An exposure would be issues for the respiratory, Im...

Activity 3.3.3-My Plastic Use

Image
My Plastic Use What is Microplastics     Microplastic is a piece of plastic from our daily usage that's the size of a 5 millimeter or a size of a a grain of rice. there are 2 parts to this microplastic, the Primary sources is where the plastic is engineered to a smaller piece, which are found in many other products Glitters is considered a microplastic, but in women's cosmetics many were showed that make up like fiber is found in our mascara. The reason it breaks down is because of sciences made it like hoping it would help with our personal and medical reasoning. As for the secondary source for this plastic it was also created from larger broken-down plastic material for an example 2 litter bottles, the mini fibers from a rope or clothing etc. This information is found in the Ted Talk video with our speaker Sarah Dudas and how she was able to explain what it is, how it's found and how it affects us. she also gives us a visual on what to look for in our household to show...

Activity 3.2.2.1 Non-Renewable Energy

Non-Renewable Energy Exploratory When looking at the video The Mountain remover research found out the that a major disease effecting the kidney and lungs. During the research found that thousands of people dyed due to high birth defects then the people who live in the area. Diagnostic The removal is a new method for reclaim coal up to 800 feet of mounts in elevation Using explosive like bombs or dynamite. The cold is extremely treated she told us that she was a single parent so that it could be sent to the power plant and there was a providing us three percent of the electricity of the demand. Cause and Effect Mountaintop remover blows up mountains daily, this causes many Environment issues including dumping over the valleys varying the streams and contaminating many waters. And once they find the cold and burn it plugs the air conditioning and billions of gallons of metal sulfate and other impurities that can lead to many medical health issues Priority Many researchers argue th...

Activity 3.3.1 Air Pollution Core Activity.

Air Pollution  What makes Air pollution      Sulfur - It's a major air pollutant, it can be described in a terrible smell and can be detected by anyone. It's a major environmental issue, part of it is in acid rain which is damaging to our ecosystem and the people.  Nitrogen - Nitrogen is a primary source for fossil fuel causing nitrogen oxide. it could also be known as the leading air quality giving us the people issues into with our body specifically our lungs, as for the animals and the ecosystem having issues as well. Hydrocarbon and Volatile- Is an organic compound made of a primary hydrogen and carbon atoms. This material is also found in fossil fuels specifically oil and natural gasses which comes in many forms. As for Volatile Deals evaporation that contributes to air pollution and its air quality. O3 and the PM 2.5      When going to the documents we see that PM 2.5 is a small material known as a particular matter that is found in t...

Activity 3.2.3.1 Solar Power and Energy Policy

Solar Power and Energy Policy Exploratory  The resources efficiency illustrates the average of the renewable energy particularly through the solar panels, it gives us significant energy from the sun Generating thousands of milliwatts. For the video that we've seen it makes a clear connection of how these technology benefits to people and are community. Diagnostic The main reason they're making this is to prevent a larger pollution in the ecosystem, they make the solar panels a renewable resource that benefits the people. It's able absorb the sun energy giving us plenty of power and since they're expanding it shows that it's working in that they're explaining how they're going to continue expanding Cause and Effect In both videos editions of the project for the solar panels it's a great benefit for the community and creates a job of opportunity. It gives up a good balance a process of stability and will assure that the project contributes positive impact...

Activity 3.2.3 – Alternative Energy

Wind Energy      wind energy is a renewable that's based on moving air. wind is produced by the different pressure by the atmosphere and the pressure of the heat. In the article of Introduction to Environmental Science it quotes on how it works "These pressure differentials themselves are largely caused by the temperature difference that result from uneven solar heating across the earth." (Bennett,2018) You can find these at many locations and like solar power it located on the land. Advantages      Wind power is a clean and renewable energy source Because to provide the energy it doesn't need to burn coal, or it doesn't have to produce toxic gas in the air. It's in the machine powered up and spins at a generator that creates electricity it is beneficial for the community, it's very good pain job for the people in the community and that it's not too expensive to fix once its damage. You could technically locate it to the oceans shore, or it will be abl...

Activity 3.2.2.2 Clean Coal? Myth or Reality.

Clean Coal? Myth or Reality My thesis      My thesis to rather there is actual clean coal I don't believe there is such a thing. Coal itself is a fossil fuel that is basically a blackish rock the was carbonized plants that we find underground that we burn to gain energy. It states that there's an exact thing called clean coal and for what it's used for is to help limit the global warming and I can print this evidence by looking in the article which it states, "It deliberately vague meaning coal plant captures the carbon dioxide emitted from the smokestack and bury it underground as a way to limit global warming," (Plumer,2017)  As beneficial it would be for having an actual clean coal, I don't think it matters because it'll still be non-renewable. Result     What I found interesting was when they were using this technology to take out the carbon dioxide (CO2) from the ground, its known to be a complex machine that one minor issue can cost over millions and...

Activity 3.2.1 – Natural Resources Review

Image
The Natural Resources Summary      After reading the source from natural resources video provided by the Northwest Vista, I showed how much we really rely on the natural resources. Form the video is mentions how we the people need to protect the natural Resouces and not overuse them because would survive without it. After having a couple days to see how much I rely on my sources I completely agree that we rely on these sources to survive. we divide our sources by 2 major sources the non-renewable and renewable. the best way that was explained to understand this was when using nonrenewable your only able to use it once like when you break a rock you can never be able use it the same way again. as for the renewable resources it's something you can either reuse or replace. The thing about relying on these resources is that we tend to overuse these materials and overuse the material making it harder for us to gain resources. Even though are renewable resources is suppos...
